年画起源于汉代(公元前202年一一公元220年)，距今已有2000多年的历史。传统民间年画主要由民间艺人创作，反映人们朴素的风俗和信仰。随着时代的发展，越来越多的专业艺术工作者加入到年画的创作队伍中，深入描绘现实生活，不断丰富题材和创新形式，创作了一批反映社会风貌的新年画。新年画描绘生活图景，倡导新风尚，为中国艺术注入新的审美气息。
